About Us
The Garden is a church in the
heart of Auckland where people can encounter Jesus, grow deep roots in faith, and
flourish in life.
We are everyday people being transformed by the love of Christ and the power of His Spirit. Rooted in Scripture and alive in worship, we are committed to building a community marked by authentic connection, radical generosity, and holy creativity.
Our heart is to see people planted in Jesus so they can bear lasting fruit - in their families, workplaces, and neighbourhoods - all for the Lord’s splendour (Isaiah 61:3).

Our Mission
For the Lord’s Splendour:
Flourishing in the life of Christ.
Growing in the house of God. Displaying His Spirit for a world that needs Him.
Growing in the house of God. Displaying His Spirit for a world that needs Him.
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour.”
Isaiah 61:3
Our leaders
Tim and Amy Cleary are the Lead Pastors
of The Garden in Auckland, New Zealand. Together they carry a passion for
seeing people encounter Jesus, grow deep roots in faith, and flourish in
life.
Their ministry journey has spanned more than a decade, beginning as youth pastors in Auckland at Greenlane Christian Centre and C3 Auckland, where they helped shape a generation of young people through discipleship and leadership development. From 2015–2018, they lived in Nashville, Tennessee, where Amy launched ToddleRock at Church of the City — a ministry connecting young mums to one another and to the church — while Tim led the creative and marketing launch of The Aetherlight, a video game retelling the story of Scripture for the digital age.
In 2018, they returned to Auckland to lead Curate Auckland, guiding the church through six transformative years, including the turbulence of the pandemic. In 2025, with the blessing of Curate’s board and through a clear sense of God’s leading, they planted The Garden — a Spirit-led community devoted to worship, Scripture, generosity, and authentic connection.
Tim is a preacher, writer, and creative storyteller, often speaking at youth camps, conferences, and national gatherings. Amy is a gifted leader, communicator, and pastor with a heart for families and community. Together, they are raising three children and building a church for the Lord’s splendour.

Our Vision
The Garden is a place where something begins to grow.
Maybe it starts with a whisper of hope. A
heart learning to breathe again. A family finding home. A weary soul drawn
back to the soil of grace. Week by week, seed by seed, something unseen
takes root.
In this place, worship rises. Not as a performance, but as a response. Deep friendships form, not by accident, but by choosing to walk together. Generosity flows with joy. Creativity bursts forth in colour, story, and solution. And people, ordinary, Spirit-filled people, begin to serve with open hands and grateful hearts.
We believe this is what happens when people are planted in Jesus.
They flourish in His life.
They grow strong in His house.
They carry His Spirit into the world.
The Garden isn’t just a name. It’s a vision.
A living picture of Isaiah 61:3
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
This is the kind of church we are.
And every life changed is fruit on the tree.

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.”
Psalm 92:12–13
Our Values
At The Garden, our culture grows from
five roots that nourish us and five fruits that flow from our shared life in
Christ.
Scripture paints the story of God through gardens - from Eden, to Gethsemane, to the New Jerusalem - and in every garden, God is present, planting, pruning, and bringing forth fruit. We live from that story.

Love for the word
We are grounded in Scripture, the living
Word of God. Like trees planted by streams of water in Psalm 1, we sink our
roots deep into His truth, letting it shape who we are and how we live. The
Word steadies us in storms, nourishes us in drought, and bears fruit in
season. We read it, obey it, and allow it to cultivate us into oaks of
righteousness, planted for the display of His splendour.
Passionate Worship
Our worship is not half-hearted - it is
whole-hearted devotion. Like the fragrant garden of Song of Songs, our
praise rises as an offering, and like Jesus in Gethsemane, our worship is
marked by surrender. Here we create space for the Spirit to move with
freedom and power. Worship is the sound of our garden: songs that carry both
intimacy and strength, prayers that till the soil of our hearts, and joy
that spreads like new growth.
Deep Connection
From Eden’s walks in the cool of
the day to Jesus’ picture of the vine and the branches, God designed
gardens for relationship. We pursue authentic community - side by side,
branch by branch, rooted in Christ together. We carry one another’s
burdens like intertwined vines, we celebrate harvests together, and we grow
strong in seasons of sun and rain alike. Connection is the trellis that
supports our growth, making sure no one grows alone.
Radical Generosity
Isaiah promises that God’s people
will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
That’s the picture of generosity we live into: open-handed, pouring
out, confident that God continually refills what is given away. Like the
fields of Israel that left room for gleaners, our lives make space for
others. Everything we have belongs to God, and we live as stewards, planting
seeds for His Kingdom to flourish.
Holy Creativity
The Bible begins in a garden and ends in
one. Eden’s loss becomes Revelation’s promise: a restored
garden-city where the tree of life bears fruit every month for the healing
of the nations. In that story we find our call to holy creativity. We
reflect our Creator by cultivating beauty, innovation, and joy - turning
deserts into blooming fields, creating signs of God’s restoration here
and now. Our creativity is not a hobby, it is a holy calling to show the
world what renewal looks like.
